The red, black and green flag is a powerful symbol of Black pride. Marcus Garvey created the flag. It was formally adopted on August 13, 1920 at the month long convention of his organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (U.N.I.A. - A.C.L.). Delegates from 25 African countries all voted and agreed that this red, black and green flag would represent the entire African race, wherever we may be found in the world.
